On today’s episode, Kirk is joined by his pastor, Rex Holt, and the two men ask the question: is it reasonable for Christians to hope that our country and culture can change? For many of us in the family of faith, there is a growing despair and an idea that the world is too far gone from the ways of the gospel, and there is no hope for repair. Rex and Kirk believe this is the wrong mindset for Christians to have, and point to the circumstances in which Jesus lived and transformed an entire culture. The Roman Empire produced a dark culture and bleak circumstances, and yet the light of the Church penetrated the darkness of the culture of the time. The Bible reminds us that the Church is a victorious institution, and while it may seem like the family of faith is "losing" current cultural battles, we can't just focus on the short term. Christ followers have a great calling to disciple to the nations and bring the culture of heaven to earth, just as Jesus did in the time of the Roman Empire, and we must have hope in this mission. In the Bible, Jesus is described as meek, but we have often misunderstood meekness for weakness. To be meek means having power, and keeping it under control as Jesus did. If you have a "sword," you should know how to use it, but you should also do everything in your power to keep that sword in its sheath. Jesus Christ is the archetype and the model for biblical masculinity, who embodied love and selflessness but was a man on a mission from heaven. He was a warrior whom the demons feared, and Christian men need to look to His example to live principled lives that conquer evil and are full of the fruits of the Spirit. Why do men watch MMA? Why do they lose their minds over an NFL game? According to Kirk, that's because God designed men to be brave and have dominion over things, and these are the outlets that they're living vicariously through. Men want a mission, but they're spending too much of their time in virtual worlds when there are real enemies to contend with in this world. Men of faith and character need to stop living vicariously, and start living victoriously! To learn more, visit kirkcameron.comTo learn more about the sponsor of today’s show and what our family currently uses for our healthcare check out Christian Healthcare Ministries by visiting https://hubs.ly/Q02vWQGy0Editing and production services provided by thepodcastupload.com Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode, Kirk dives into the specific and symbolic elements that make up the National Monument, and reminds listeners of the forefathers’ original plan for the United States. There are many Americans who have taken up a spirit of 1776, and are ready to fight in another revolution for the future of this country, but war is not what we want or need. Instead of taking advice from 1776, we should take a lesson from Psalm 17:6, which tells us that the battle is the Lord’s. In this verse in Psalms, God’s soldiers in the army of compassion prove that the strength of an army and the effectiveness of weaponry is not enough to win the war and bring lasting change. Our mission is to bring heaven to earth, and the forefathers understood that they must approach this mission with a humble strategy and hearts set on God. There is an important difference between "reporters" of culture and "reformers" of culture. While the reporters merely gossip, repeat, and spread culture's problems, reformers are the ones who work toward solutions to those problems. Too many U.S. citizens are reporters, and are doing nothing to improve the state of American culture for future generations, which is why the family of faith needs to step up. Without the transforming power of the gospel, good policies and principles will not be able to create lasting change. In order to be true reformers, we need hearts that have been transformed by the gospel, because on our own, we are slaves to the desires of our sinful hearts. With the Bible as the ultimate source of truth, we must be the ones to convince this crooked culture that it needs change. To heaven-ize earth and follow the example of Jesus, we must be the reformers of culture, equipped with courage and strength. Government authorities should be obeyed, when they are doing their job of restraining evil so that citizens can do good. But when the government acts corruptly and fails to protect the people, that may be a time for civil disobedience. During the COVID-19 pandemic, churches across the country were deemed "nonessential," while institutions like strip clubs and smoke shops remained open. One particular pastor from Thousand Oaks, California decided that it was time for an act of civil disobedience, and while adhering to health precautions, he reopened his church as a place for community and spiritual renewal. This pastor, Rob McCoy, understood that the church was a placed ordained by God, and as such, fought back against the government to open the doors of the church. Like Rob, members of the family of faith need to constantly be asking ourselves what we can do to create a bright and hopeful future in this country. We need to be fighting for biblical values in a culture that desperately needs care for sinful hearts. Jesus has tasked the family of faith to occupy the earth until he comes back, and we need to take that mission seriously, using the gifts that He has given us to multiply His kingdom. We see an example of this in the "Parable of the Talents," which tells the story of a nobleman who entrusts his servants with five talents, asking them to invest the money while he is away. When the nobleman finally returns, he is a king, and rewards the servants who invested their money wisely by multiplying their talents. When the king gets to the last servant, who had done nothing with what he was given due to fear, the king casts him away. As representatives of heaven, we are given a similar task -- to use what God has given us for the goodness of the Lord and His Kingdom, so we must not stand idly by out of fear.To learn more, visit kirkcameron.comTo learn more about the sponsor of today’s show and what our family currently uses for our healthcare check out Christian Healthcare Ministries by visiting https://hubs.ly/Q02vWQGy0Editing and production services provided by thepodcastupload.com Learn more about your ad choices. In today's culture, we need to be wary of the media that our children are surrounded by, which sadly includes children's books. The once wholesome Scholastic is now choosing to publish books that threaten to corrupt our children, and we can't sit idly by while this happens. Many parents, caregivers, and teachers believe that there is nothing we can do, but we must take the stance of David against the Goliath of secular children's books. We must take a stance of courage and be advocates for the future that we want our children to be living in. Instead of complaining about culture, the family of faith should aim to be the creators of culture. Our society is a garden that has been overridden with weeds that are choking out all that is beautiful, and that is due to our own neglect. The Lord called Adam and Eve to populate the earth and take dominion over it, and our sacred calling as humankind is to build a world that gives honor to God and blessing to future generations. As children of God, shaping culture is our calling. So don't give up on the culture, give up on fear.To learn more, visit kirkcameron.comTo learn more about the sponsor of today’s show and what our family currently uses for our healthcare check out Christian Healthcare Ministries by visiting https://hubs.ly/Q02vWQGy0Editing and production services provided by thepodcastupload.com Learn more about your ad choices. Some people believe that God's plan is to snatch Christians away from earth and into heaven, yet that doesn't seem in line with what we see in Scripture. Instead, the family of faith is called to "heaven-ize" the earth, bringing the life of heaven down to our imperfect world. Society will tell you that secular humanism allows for freedom of religion, but even in a society that deems itself religiously neutral, someone's ideas will inevitably dominate. Their idea of heaven puts man on the throne as supreme leader, but man's laws will only lead to misery and slavery. If we want to be truly free and flourishing, our country must nourish the biblical values that it were once founded upon.To learn more, visit kirkcameron.comTo learn more about the sponsor of today’s show and what our family currently uses for our healthcare check out Christian Healthcare Ministries by visiting https://hubs.ly/Q02vWQGy0Editing and production services provided by thepodcastupload.com Learn more about your ad choices.
