How to Turn America Around

Christian Conservatism

What is the difference between conservative values and biblical values? And which of these sets of values is going to save America? Conservative politics alone cannot save the nation because freedom is dangerous for people who do not have a moral foundation. Educate Yourself

The family is one of God's primary vessels for extending His Kingdom to earth. And yet, we see the family becoming less of an instrument of God's and more of an instrument that is advancing the Kingdom of man. If our children are our future, then whoever controls a country's children will inevitably control that country's future. We must not risk government schools turning our childrens' minds and hearts against God. Instead, our job as sons and daugthers of the Lord is to teach that the gospel has the power to transform and restore entire cultures, beginning with the individual. Our children bear the image of God, and their hearts and minds belong not to government, but to the Father. Outsourcing Our Parenting

If education is what frames our world and teaches us how and what to think, then we must keep a close eye on the education of our children. Today, 85 percent of Christian families send their children to government schools, which is comparable to Old Testament Isrealities sending their children to the Philistines to become educated. The family of faith needs to take back responsiblity for our childrens' education, as the things they learn in school affect their view of the government, of the family, and of God. Our Duty and Mission as the Family of Faith

For many Christians, this is a difficult question to answer, as there are passages in the Bible that say we must be obedient to the government because God has ordained it. Even still, we must be careful listening to people in powerful positions in government who don’t know who God is, and don’t know what He has been doing for His people throughout history. Followers of Christ are not meant to be complacent and obedient to secular government, but are meant to be salt and light to a fallen world. It is our challenge to balance our perspective, always seeking peace and blessing by God. Change begins at the local, grassroots level, which is where the family of faith has an obligation and a calling to stand against tyrannical power. The things taking place in the U.S. should be a catalyst, transforming peoples’ attitudes toward God and each other. We need to look back to America’s past Great Awakenings, and see how God has used his people in the face of crisis and unrest. Encourage Your Pastors

In the last few decades, the Church has escaped from its responsibility to take a stand against tyranny. Our founding fathers were once actively applying Scripture to their lives and to the formation of the republic, encouraged by the words of patriot pastors. There is no one more equipped and called by God than pastors to teach American citizens how to apply biblical principles to every aspect of our lives, and we have lost the importance of that leadership. In early America, the pulpits became the source of discipleship that spread the vales of biblical faith, so that Americans could stand with character and principle against tyranny. The men and women who founded our country did not want to establish a theocracy, but they did seek the ability to govern themselves according to Christian values.
